(Fakuma Direct) Wittmann Battenfeld debuts conceptual DC powered injection molding machine
At the WITTMANN BETTANFELD stand in Fakuma 2023, the conceptual machine model EcoPower DC is first presented. It draws its power supply solely from a battery as DC voltage source.
Correspondent editor from Adsale Plastics Network conducted an onsite interview with Rüdiger Junghans, CSO from innov energy, and Mario Bruckner, Area Sales Manager from Wittmann Battenfeld.
Wittmann Battenfeld demonstrates how to power machines with DC (direct current) networks without transforming to AC (alternating current) power through inverters. The new technology not only offering the benefits of cost-saving but also emissions reduction.
The energy costs can be kept low by the direct use of solar power. In addition, the direct current can easily be stored in conventional batteries for supply security to cope with electricity price peaks.
Besides, the use of direct current leads to increased energy efficiency, which contributes to reducing CO2 emissions.
