NOVA Chemicals becomes rPE supplier of Amcor
Amcor announced a Memorandum of Understanding with NOVA Chemicals Corporation for the purchase of mechanically recycled polyethylene (rPE) resin for use in flexible packaging films.
In the supply agreement, NOVA Chemical’s SYNDIGO rPE resin, manufactured at its first mechanical recycling facility in Connersville, Indiana US, will be sold to Amcor.

The recycling facility was announced as a significant expansion off NOVA Chemical’s Circular Solutions business in July, and is projected to be in operation as early as 2025.
Fred Stephan, president of Amcor Flexibles North America, commented that this agreement supplements the company’s rPE supply and help reach its target to achieve 30% recycled material usage across the global portfolio by 2030.
“Reshaping plastics for a better future will take collaboration within our industry, and we share Amcor’s commitment to further global packaging circularity,” added Greg DeKunder, vice president of NOVA Circular Solutions.
NOVA Chemicals plans to expand its recycling footprint across North America over the next years to help reach its ambition of 30% share of total PE sales from products containing recycled content.
