Report: Increasing diversity of plastic pipes in the growing global market
Ceresana, a German-based market research institute, published its 6th edition world report on the market study of plastic pipes. It predicts development and describes present situation of plastic pipes global market.

Ceresana published the 6th edition on the study of plastic pipes global market.
Global market grows in different pace
The latest report forecasts an CAGR of 3%. However, the outlook varies greatly from different countries.
In Western Europe, demand is not expected to exceed 2021 level until 2025. The construction industry in China also faces challenge to build on previous records.
On the other hand, North America sets a faster pace. The government is investing large sums in infrastructure, for example, a USD 15 billion in replacement for old lead potable water pipes.
Demand grows in a variety of industries
The study also includes a breakdown of sales in USD for various applications. Demand grows strongly in the area of “potable water” and “agriculture”.
For agricultural sector, Ceresana expects global demand to increase by around 3.8% per year until 2032.
More extreme weather causes higher need for efficient, powerful water pipes. Dense, low-loss plastic pipes help protect environment in wastewater disposal, drinking water and gas supply.
Switching to renewable energies and developing hydrogen networks require new pipes. Plastic cable protection pipes also shield fiber optic networks, power lines and other electrical cables against damage, without requiring a lot of maintenance.
Compared to metal or concrete, plastic pipes are more durable, corrosion-resistant and resistant to many chemicals. They are lightweight and easy to install.
More variety of plastic pipes
Various types of plastic are used for different applications, from civil engineering to buildings and industrial plants.
Classic PVC pipes are in high demand. Its chlorinated version, PVC-C or CPVC, also offers better flexibility and heat resistance.
However, PVC also faces competition. PE pipes are flexible and hardly susceptible to cracking, making them ideal for gas pipes and industrial applications. Cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) also provides exceptional flexibility and durability.
Market for heat-resistant PP pipes and for the collective category “pipes made of other plastics” is developing most dynamically. These include acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) pipes with high impact resistance and temperature resistance. Increasing trend of pipes with recycled plastics and bioplastics is also observed.
